  • Ms. Jennifer Scott is a graduate of The University of Findlay where she received her degrees in Multi-Age Visual Arts and Western Equestrian Studies. Recently she has also graduated from Kent State University where she received her Master's in Curriculum and Instruction. Ms. Scott has been an art teacher  at Crestwood High School since 2008.
  • Ms. Scott has received a Top 25 Educator Award from the Ohio Governor's Youth Art Exhibition and 3 National Gold and 1 Silver Medal Educator Awards from National Scholastics Art and Writing.
  • Since 2012 she has been the Regional Director for the Ohio Governor's Youth Art Exhibition for the local region making Crestwood the Regional Judging Site.

Attendance

  • School Attendance Policy applies. If absence is Unexcused student will receive 0pts for that days performance evaluation contribution. Students may make these points up by either getting the days excused or coming in during study hall, lunch, or stay for open studio.
  • 3 times unexcused late to class will result in a detention (each time they are accumulated)
Skipping class will result in a cut slip and 0pts towards the weekly performance evaluation

Academic Misconduct:

  • Cheating: Copying from another person’s test paper, computer files, or electronic device will result in an automatic ZERO and an Office Referral  
  • Plagiarism: The appropriation, theft, purchase or obtaining by any means another’s work, and the unacknowledged submission or incorporation of that work as one’s own offered for credit. Appropriation includes the quoting or paraphrasing of another’s work without giving credit therefore, using another person’s photography, images, etc without their consent. If you plagiarize work you will receive a Zero for the project.  
  • Having someone else do your work for you will result in a Zero.

Classroom Rules/Cell Phone Policy

Cell Phone Policy:

  • 1st Offense Caught Texting: Warning issued
  • 2nd Offense Caught Texting: Cell Phone will be taken, loss of points from performance evaluation. Student may retrieve phone from teacher at the end of class.
  • 3rd Offense Caught Texting: Cell Phone will be taken, loss of points from your performance evaluation, write up for after school detention. Student will need to retrieve their cell phone at the end of the day from the Vice Principal’s Office.
  • If Texting Offense Continues: A meeting with the parents (phone or in person) will occur. Further consequences and severity of such consequences will be determined at that time.
  • 1st Offense Caught Playing Games on Electronic Device (cell phone, ipod, ipad, computer, etc): Device will be confiscated and loss of performance points from weekly evaluation. Student may retrieve device from teacher at the end of the period. If on school computers student will lose privileges for the remainder of the period to use the computer. It will be the student’s responsibility to come in during a free period, before, or after school to make up work they missed by playing games.
  • 2nd Offense Caught Playing Games on Electronic Device (cell phone, ipod, ipad, computer etc): Device will be confiscated, loss of performance points from weekly evaluation, and a write up for after school detention. Student may retrieve device from the Vice Principal’s Office at the end of the day.
  • 3rd Offense Caught Playing Games on Electronic Device (cell phone, ipod, ipad, computer etc): A meeting with the parents (phone or in person) will occur. Further consequences and severity of such consequences will be determined at that time.

Should a Student Answer or Make a Phone Call in Class: Student’s electronic device will immediately be confiscated. Write up to the Vice Principal for an in school suspension will be made. Student may retrieve device from the Vice Principal’s Office at the end of the day. Parent will be contacted.

Classroom Rules:

  1. All Rules in the Student Handbook apply
  2. If a student wishes to come to the art room during a nonscheduled they will need to request a pass from the art teacher BEFORE 1st Period.  Due to class size and schedule conflicts not all requests can be approved.
  3. Students are not to touch, play with, or move any art supply, device, or project that is not theirs or part of their class periods supplies. Some of these device will be extremely hot (such as blow torches, kilns, etc.) and touching could burn you.
  4. Students are not to go into the supply room without permission of teacher. Exclusion of this rule is when students are retrieving and returning their portfolios for class.
  5. Students are to remain in their seats until the bell rings.
  6. Vulgarity, insults, or negativity about another student or their work is NOT permitted.
  7. Art Supplies are only for Art Class use:
    • Printer is ONLY for art class use. If you print another class’s work or use it for personal use you will receive a detention. Further misuse will result in loss of printing and computer privileges in the art room. Students who lose privileges will have to find time before or after school to use the computers and printer under teacher supervision. (Art fee’s pay for printer cost. The cost of this class if figured out in advance based on what supplies and how many prints will be needed)
    • As stated above your fee is based on the supplies needed for this class. Art supplies are for art projects only. We use quality art materials and the misuse of which takes away from your fellow students and their projects.
  8. Cameras and hard portfolios are available for student use. These items are for student use but will need to be signed out. By signing out these utensils a student is recognizing if they lose or damage them they will be responsible for paying to fix or replace them.
  9. No student is to be in the 109B or 109C without consent and presence of Ms. Scott. If Ms. Scott (or substitute) is not in the room then you should not be either.
  10. All assignments are due on the appointed day. Each day they are late after they will drop one letter grade from appointed grade. If a student needs an extension please see teacher before the due date.
  11. No Cell Phone use unless approved by teacher for acquiring image for project. Please see Cell Phone Policy above.
  12. Ms. Scott will stay after on Tues days and  until 4pm for Open Studio. This is time for students to make up late work, need extra help, or just work on their own art work.
