My name is Melissa Kerst and I am in my 11th year here at Crestwood Middle School! I taught my first year as a 7th grade Intervention Specialist, spent 6 years in the 6th grade, and am now back in 7th! I have experience working with students in a small group setting in order to provide more intense, direct instruction for those students with greater learning needs, but I also have experience working in a co-teaching setting. For the 17-18 school year, I will be a co-teacher in the 7th grade language, math, science, and social studies classrooms, providing support in those classes and helping to meet the needs of all students.
I graduated from Kent State University in May 2007 with a Bachelor's of Science in Education Degree. I am licensed to work in grades K-12 as an Intervention Specialist for those students with mild/moderate learning needs. I also completed my master's degree in 2012 at Kent State University in the area of reading.
I believe I bring my passion for teaching and for making a difference in the lives of the students into the classroom on a daily basis!
I am from Stow, Ohio, where I also currently live with my husband (Mr. Kerst), our daughter, Ashlea, our son, Landon, and our two peek-a-poo puppies. When I am not teaching, I enjoy the outdoors (hiking, biking, etc.), crafts, reading, and spending time with those I love.
