My name is Sarah Maffitt and I am the Spanish teacher at the high school. I'm very excited to teach at a school that I've heard so many wonderful things about! I graduated from Youngstown State University with a Bachelor's degree of Education in Spanish and have worked with many students in the Youngstown City School District. Before transferring to YSU, I attended Kent State University where I double majored in Spanish and American Sign Language. I utilize a unique method of teaching where my students learn Spanish vocabulary through ASL. This method is called TPR (Total Physical Response) and has been proved by many scholars to be very beneficial to students learning a foreign language. My former students really enjoyed it and found that they were able to retain more vocabulary.
Please know that my door is always open and I welcome students and parents to bring any questions or concerns they may have to my attention throughout the following year. My email is email@example.com.
I'm looking forward to having a wonderful year and sharing my love for foreign language!
